IN INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT (AGEING)

DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

DELIVERY MODE

Currently this qualification is being offered online only during the current COVID-19 crisis with arrangements for the required 120 of work placement to be organised with students on an individual basis to ensure the health and safety of the student participating.

COURSE DURATION

This qualification is delivered over a period of 6 – 12 months online self-paced study. The course is self-paced, so the hours of study vary from student to student and are influenced by many factors including the amount of time students can dedicate to their studies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • 18 years of age or over at time of enrolment

  • Satisfactorily completed Year 12 or equivalent

  • Access to a computer with word processing, PDF reader capabilities and an internet connection

  • Ability to read and comprehend course materials

  • Ability to allocate appropriate study hours per week

  • Access to suitable work placement clothing is required. i.e., black pants, white polo shirt and leather (or leather like) fully enclosed shoes with non-slip soles.

Successful completion of this qualification the student will receive a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

​

For partial completion of this qualification, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment indicating completed Units of Competency.

​

All certificates, record of results (listing units completed) and statements of attainment are issued electronically within 10 business days of qualification completion.

PATHWAYS FOR FURTHER EDUCATION

This qualification provides a pathway for students to continue their studies and enhance their skills through CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability.

WORK PLACEMENT

All students undertaking this qualification are required to complete 120 hours of work placement.

​

Students will be placed with a host Aged Care provider with in close proximate to their location. During work placement student will be required to complete a logbook and undertake assessments whilst on the job.

​

Work placement provides with the student the opportunity to utilise the skills learnt in the classroom into actual practice.

​

All students are required to undertake a Working with Children’s Check and a National Police Record check and must have these in place prior to the commencement of their work placement.

​

Students will be provided with additional information during their course orientation on work placement and work placement requirements.

UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

Every student requires a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain a certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation when studying a nationally recognised training course in Australia.

​

A USI gives you access to an online account which keeps all your training records together, even if you move locations, change training organisations or undertake studies at different times in your life.

​

When booking your course, you are required to provide Australian Community and Management College with your USI either via the section on your enrolment form or in person on the day of the course.
